3 Decision making pillars

We make choices every day. Most of them we make without thinking that much about them. Should I wear the green blouse or the white one? Should write a blog post or watch a YouTube video? Some of them are bigger. Where should I work? Should I take a Master’s degree? I hate making big decisions. As I get older the bigger and scarier the decisions get. There are many things that experts advise you to do while making a decision such as making a list of pros and cons. You should absolutely do these things, but here are my three pillars of decision making.

Does is broaden my sphere of influence?

The most effective way to change the world is through influence. Digital marketing has already discovered this. Develop a friendship. Meet a need. Make a call to action. If I can widen my reach, it’s a good thing.

I didn’t want to study nursing and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to come to Antillean for University, but both of those choices broadened my sphere of influence. Now, I have a better understanding of the importance need for the health message and I can speak Spanish. Plus, there’s the bonus of being debt free.

Can I best take care of my People?

I love taking care of my people despite the fact that I mostly fail at it. I can’t host like my mom or sister. I can’t operate on no sleep like my sister. I certainly can’t make a meal out of absolutely nothing like my mom. I can’t do chores in the two minutes before I rush off to school like my brother. Yet, I try to help were I can. Sometimes, I just have to focus on letting them take a break from taking care of me.

My senior of university, I worked a little extra. It felt good to be able to help out with stuff around the house, buy my family a meal or sponsor my siblings to hang out with friends. Looking forward to doing a lot more of that when I have a job.

Is it fun?

Not everything life is fun. There’s stuff that is just not fun at all. But one wise man said,

“So, don’t be too good or too wise! Why destroy yourself? On the other hand, don’t be too wicked either. Don’t be a fool! Why die before your time? Pay attention to these instructions, for anyone who fears God will avoid both extremes.”

Therefore, have fun a little here and there. Enjoy life. Choose some things because they are enjoyable because life is a struggle under the son.
